Flutist Ellen Fisher-Deerberg has cultivated a long and multifaceted musical career in the New Jersey, Delaware, and Pennsylvania region. Originally from Wilmington Delaware, Ellen has served on the faculties of the Music School of Delaware, Bryn Mawr Conservatory of Music, and the Darlington Arts Center. Upon relocating to New Jersey in 2002, Ellen joined the faculty of the Westminster Conservatory of Music, where she taught both private lessons and assisted with Early Childhood summer camps between 2005-2026. Ellen also conducts a flute choir at
the Princeton Adult School, where she has been a faculty member since 2023.

Ellen is the principal flutist of the Bravura Philharmonic Orchestra. An accomplished chamber music musician, she has frequently performed at faculty recitals presented by Westminster Conservatory, and has performed with several flute quartets at annual events presented by the National Flute Association, New York Flute Club, and the Flute Society of Greater Philadelphia.

As a member of the Lyra Ensemble, Ellen was a national finalist of the Astral Artists competition in 2018. Mrs. Deerberg can be heard on the critically acclaimed CD “Pictures at an African Exhibition” with saxophonist Darryl Yokley’s Sound Reformation, and on “The Colors Fall” with flutist Lisamarie Windwalker. Not limited by the standard flute repertoire, Ellen has performed with ensembles encompassing a multitude of different and unique instrumental combinations, including classical guitar, harp, saxophone, percussion, Native American flutes, and guzheng.

Mrs. Deerberg is a graduate of Temple University’s Boyer College of Music, where she studied with former principal flutist of the Philadelphia Orchestra, Murray Panitz.
