Grace Notes is a beginning level choir designed to introduce basic vocal and music skills for choral singing. Our youngest singers are current 3rd graders when they begin Grace Notes. Singers perform quality literature, ranging from simple to slightly more complex, various styles, periods and cultures. The girls are introduced to the beginning stages of vocal development through the study of breath management and promotion of good intonation. Vocal range, shaping of vowels, tone production, and diction are also explored. Music reading is introduced with the help of Solfege. Voicing ranges from unison to two parts. Singers remain in Grace Notes for one to two years.
In addition to performing a diverse repertoire of unison and part singing, the Grace Note experience encourages choristers’ ability to work together as an ensemble, and fosters poise and confidence. The Grace Notes sing with the other PGC choirs during the year to promote a wider sense of ensemble singing, and to afford a smoother transition from one choir to the next.
