We are running auditions as space allows through the end of September. To schedule an audition people should contact the office by phone or Auditions@WestrickMusic.org. We will occasionally hold a limited number of auditions in winter as space allows. Auditions for next season are held in May and June, and we start scheduling appointments in spring. To receive information on scheduling, or receive an invitation to our open rehearsal night in February or March, they can again contact the office.
Returning choristers from the Apprentice and Treble Choirs are required to audition annually to determine choir placement and allow for regular assessments. Any choristers returning to PBC following a leave of absence during the 2019-2020 season should follow the audition instructions listed above for New Choristers.
If you have questions about the audition process or need assistance in scheduling your audition, please email or call us at (609) 688-1888.
What to Expect in Your Audition
Any boy who will be entering grades 3-12 the next fall is warmly welcomed. All new chorister auditions will take place at Westrick Music Academy, 231 Clarksville Rd. Suite 8, Princeton Junction NJ, 08550. We ask that you arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled audition time. The audition will last approximately 10-12 minutes.
During this time, the directors will ask the singer questions to get to know them. You do not need to prepare any music for this audition. You will be asked to sing “Row, Row, Row Your Boat” and a major scale, then the directors will check your vocal range and ability to match musical patterns. Finally, you will be asked to sight-read a brief musical passage based on your ability level. Relax and have a good time! We’re singers too, and we know how nervous you feel. It’ll be okay, we promise!
